How to Design Your Dream Life

You are currently viewing How to Design Your Dream Life

Everything starts with one decision. Then, another. It’s not easy to design your dream life, but it’s simple.

Designing a dream life is easier than you think; it’s just a matter of building your vision and following the steps.

  • Make the decision that you want your life to be better, and start by taking one step toward your goal. This can be as small as getting out of bed 5 minutes earlier, or as big as quitting your day job so you have time to write the novel you’ve always wanted to write.
  • Take another step toward your goal or new way of living. Again, this can be big or small—just keep taking steps! Consistency is the most important tool you can use to build your dreams.
  • Refine what you are doing by not only making sure that each step moves you toward your goal, but also that it’s something you enjoy and don’t mind doing on a daily basis. In other words, make sure that each step brings joy into your life in some way—even if it’s just a reminder about how much happier things will be once the final outcome has been reached!
  • Continue in this way until all of your steps have led up to what was once just an idea: you can design your dream life easily! The best part is knowing how many people who started out where we did now get paid for their passion projects and enjoy every day because they took action instead of dreaming about it!

Design your Dream Life

The first step to designing your dream life is to visualize the life you want in detail. Grab a physical notebook and write out the life that you want in present tense. Writing out your dream life by hand is called future scripting. Using a physical journal and actually hand writing your dreams is extremely important because the act of using your hands will make it more personal to you than typing it on your phone or computer.

The second important step is to write in present tense. You should write in present tense because you are setting your intention that your dream will happen.

Have a fully-fledged dream house in mind, right down to the smallest details.

To truly design your dream life, the first step is to set specific goals. And not just any old “goals,” but really well-thought-out, fully-fledged dreams. Dreams that you can literally see in your head—with all the details filled in—will make you excited to get up in the morning and start working toward them.

What I’m saying is: don’t settle for anything less than what you want.

Start by visualizing your dream house. Where will you wake up every morning? It is a dream house or a luxurious hotel room? Would your home be an apartment in the city or a small cabin tucked away in the mountains? Who would be around you, or do you want to live alone? How does the room smell? Are the windows open? What do you hear when you wake up?

If you want a mansion on a private beach with an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, imagine it and then hold onto that image. The more detail you can add to this image, the greater your chances of achieving it.

Don’t worry about what other people might think or say about your dream house—remember that it’s your dream house! Just because it may seem unattainable or unrealistic doesn’t mean it can’t be achieved; if no one ever had ridiculous goals, we’d still be living in caves digging for food with sharpened sticks…

Envision how you will maintain your house.

You’ve already envisioned the style of your home, and you are thinking about the size of your house. Next up is maintenance! Before you move in, think about how you will maintain your home. Will you have to hire someone to help keep it clean? Who will take care of the yard? Who will be responsible for chores like taking out the trash or cleaning out the gutters? And how often do you want a cleaning person to come in and help out with these tasks? What kind of appliances will make your life easier when it comes to maintaining your future home? All of these questions are important considerations as you begin to design and build your dream house.

Have a dream car, a dream boat, and all your other dream possessions, including jewelry and clothing.

In order to create a life that is wildly wonderful and almost too good to be true, you are going to need dream cars, boats, and all your other dream possessions.

Start by making a list of everything that you feel you need in life. Then make a list of everything that you want in life. Now take off your practical pants and make a third list of all the things that would make you happy. Once this is done, compare the lists and determine what makes you unique as well as what you value most. The list should include everything from where you live to the color of your car and boat—remember: dream big!

Once this process has been completed, it’s time to review each item on your list individually. You’ll want to look at each one closely and determine if it really matches who you are as well as what will make your heart sing with joy!

Envision how you will maintain your vehicles.

Now that you’ve decided what kinds of vehicles you would like to drive, it is time to consider how you will maintain them. There are many things to consider—from the cost of insurance and vehicle registration, to the cost of your auto repair shop and car washes. Set aside money for these regular expenses, so they do not catch you off guard.

It is also important to research which brands or models have the best track record when it comes to maintenance and service. Don’t buy a vehicle based on looks alone! You want a vehicle that will last, and one that won’t break down right after you bring it home.

If you want your new dream life to continue in the future—you should definitely consider how much it will cost to replace your vehicles as well. Consider buying new from a reputable dealer who offers great trade-in deals (and if possible, find one who has a great reputation for customer service).

What will you wear? How will you accessorize?

What kind of possessions or belongings would you surround yourself with, and how would they reflect what’s important to you? You’ll want to choose clothes that help you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. Fashionable doesn’t necessarily mean expensive, so look around until you find the right style for you. Set a budget to invest in pieces that fit well, and don’t worry if they’re not similar to what everyone else is wearing.

Accessorize with items that make you happy—a favorite scarf, a pair of earrings you love, or even just a new shade of lipstick can be a great way to express yourself freely and let your personal sense of style shine through. If you like bright colors, incorporate those into your wardrobe choices; if you prefer more muted tones, go with those instead. Find colors that suit your skin tone but don’t be afraid to experiment or take chances every now and then!

Consider your daily habits and routines.

It’s important to set aside time for the things that are important to you. Keep in mind that you should be spending your time on activities that will get you closer to your goals, but not every activity needs to be goal-focused. It’s okay to spend some of your free time relaxing or having fun with friends and family. As a general guideline, try sticking to the following schedule:

  • Exercise: at least three times per week
  • Eat healthy: five days per week
  • Meditation: five days per week
  • Socialize with friends and family: two nights per week
  • Relaxation: one night per week

Envision how you will fill your days, from morning to night.

Now that you have your list of goals, it’s time to imagine how you will fill your days in order to achieve them. Start by writing down what your ideal day would look like from morning to night.

Consider the following:

  • What time would you wake up each morning? Would you meditate, exercise, or take a walk before heading to work?
  • What would you do during the day and how many hours would you work? Would there be time for a long lunch break with friends or family members or even a short one to relax and recharge?
  • What would happen in the evening when work is done? Would there be time for hobbies such as volunteering, learning a new skill, writing poetry, etc.? How much time could be spent with friends and family members each night?

Envision what you will do for fun and for relaxation.

In this section, it’s time to really let your imagination run wild. What would you do for fun and relaxation? How would you fill your days?

They are yours and can be as big or small as you choose. Dreaming about them here is stepping into the future and experiencing what it would feel like to have everything just right.

Envision how much money you need to make each day to support the lifestyle that you want.

The way that you are going to design your life is by doing the math. First, calculate how much money you will need to spend each day. Consider how much money you will spend on food, entertainment, and other expenses. Then see how much money you will need to save each day to achieve your financial goals (like buying a house or a car). Once those two things are calculated, see how much money you will need to earn each day to support that lifestyle.

This will give you an idea of where your needs lie and what kind of job(s) you need in order to live the life that you want.

Envision how much money you need to make each day to support that lifestyle.

Okay, so you want to know how much money you need to make each day in order to support your lifestyle. You can do this by looking at the different types of expenses that you have and then multiplying them by 12, which is the number of months in the year. Let’s say you need $10,000 per month to support your lifestyle. Here’s how you figure out if it’s realistic:

  • What is the difference between your current income and the income you need to achieve your dreams?
  • What can you change in your current life to meet these goals?
    • If you want to live in a larger house, can you move to a lower cost of living area?
    • If you want to travel more, is there a skill that you can leverage to become a freelancer?
  • Can you experience the luxury for less money? Owning a private jet is expensive but booking a flight on a private jet is something more reasonable. You can take advantage of empty legs to book a private flight for less than $10,000.

You can design your dream life if you are willing to work for it.
